Dearness Allowance – Important news about DA dues in West Bengal

West Bengal’s Dearness Allowance movement is growing every day. The dearness allowance for West Bengal government employees was recently raised in two stages by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Furthermore, no work is being done. The government employees who are protesting are not seeing their ice melt.

For the first time since December 25, the state government has increased the Dearness Allowance by 4 percent this current year. 14 percent dearness allowance will be effective from next May. All government employees will get this 14% allowance announced by the Chief Minister himself. But that didn’t work either. Because there is a difference in allowance with Central Government Employees. And the government employees (West Bengal Government Employees) cannot accept this.

So in  order to obtain Dearness Allowance at the central rate, they are thus continuing their campaign. To this movement have joined thousands of workers. It’s going to be “Sangrami Joutha Mancha” again. All of them fear that on March 6-7, the city will close once more. The movement’s most well-known face, Bhaskar Ghosh, offered some commentary.

He said that ” The state government workers’ organization “Sangrami Joutha Mancha” demands that the state government workers should also be paid DA at the central rate. The rate of Dearness Allowance shall be determined as per All India Consumer Price Index. What happens in case of DA of central government employees. He said, “For the past 12 years since this government came, 2 Pay Commissions have come. Due to two pay commissions, our arrears amount has increased to 82 percent.’

Currently Central Government employees and other state employees get Dearness Allowance at the rate of 46 per cent under Central Government Pay Commission. But in our state that amount is 10 percent. A fresh 4 percent has been announced. But it will be implemented from May. Meanwhile, there is news again that the Center will increase the dearness allowance of its employees by 4% (DA Hike News).

However, the discrepancy was precisely 36%. “As a result, the standard of state government employees is decreasing day by day,” the speaker continued. Actually, the state’s economy is being harmed. In West Bengal, the state government’s unscheduled announcement of Dearness Allowance, which does not correspond to market value, is causing economic turmoil.

Because of this, both temporary and permanent employees are going through terrible hardships. In reference to the state government’s hike in dearness allowance, he declared, “We are not happy with the increase in Dearness Allowance of the state.” We received 4 percent because our arrears were 36 percent there. The larger problem is that while the minimum wage is rising, the state government is not keeping up with it.”

There are several cases of people working for less than the minimum wage in different state government offices. We desire for it to end. He stated, “Our next step is to observe a strike in all state government offices on the 22nd  of this month,” in reference to the March protests. The worker will show up for work, refuse to work, and go on a hunger strike in protest of not receiving their Dearness Allowance or any arrears.
