West Bengal govt to provide free new irrigation machines to farmers
India, where we live, is an agricultural country. As a result, agriculture is highly developed in our state of West Bengal. Almost all states get crops from our state. Most farmers in the state are poor, meanwhile, despite progress in agriculture, farmers in West Bengal live below the federal poverty level. So to help the farmers financially, the Chief Minister of the state launched the Krishak Bandhu Scheme in 2019. (Click here for details about Krishak Bandhu Scheme)
Farmers will get new benefits from the Krishak Bandhu Scheme in West Bengal
Using this Krishak Bandhu Scheme, farmers receive up to Rs 10,000 a year. There are two instalments for this payment. However, the government has this time taken additional steps for the farmers through a different scheme in addition to this one. The West Bengal government has made an excellent statement for the state’s small and marginal farmers. To assist them in farming, the state government would give them free agricultural equipment.
The state government’s ‘Krishi Sech Yojana’ will provide this facility to small and marginal farmers. They will be provided with free drip irrigation and sprinklers for fountain irrigation. Only GST has to be paid for using these two irrigation devices; Otherwise, it will be provided completely free of cost by the state government.

Why will this irrigation equipment be given for free?
According to the Bankura District Agriculture Officer, the primary goal of this project is to supply free irrigation equipment to underprivileged farmers to assist them in growing crops. Farmers are receiving micro-irrigation facilities under the West Bengal state government’s Krishak Bandhu Scheme initiative, which helps to meet the agricultural sector’s water needs. will all work together to cut down on water waste.
Given that Bankura district is a dry location, the water’s significance for drinking and irrigation is enormous. There is an annual water shortage in agriculture here. Therefore, under the Krishak Bandhu initiative, small and impoverished farmers will receive free drip irrigation machinery and sprinkler irrigation; the only cost associated with these items would be GST. This will help to prevent a water crisis in agriculture.
Original Price Of irrigation equipment
Installing a drip irrigation system costs seventy thousand rupees, while a sprinkler system costs twenty thousand rupees. Naturally, these costly machines are out of reach for low-income farmers. Therefore, the state government would install these two machines and provide them to the poor farmers (Krishak Bandhu) at no cost to them.
